Sa Harap ng Tindahan ni Mang Teban (Painting Collection 2012)

Here are paintings from my latest book, Sa Tapat ng Tindahan ni Mang Teban, published in Manila by Lampara Books. I was teamed up with a writer named Joachim Antonio and the Filipino daily life - inspired funny story was well meshed with my banig painting style. Doing this book was fun. I got to play around with the exciting possibilities of how two people ceaselessly compete with each other, and input my own symbols and abstraction for visual metaphors.

Most of the pieces were sold early this year, but you may get in touch with me for some which are still available. Each comes with a free picture book for a fun read-along to a child, and introduce him/her to the appreciation of original works of art.

Jomike Tejido's Kaiju Painting collection

Acrylic on paper
17.5 x 12 cm

This is a series of Kaiju, or monsters that come from Sitsiryum Island, a msytical island invaded by the abusive Robo-Kaiju who turn the peaceful inhabitants into mindless monsters. This is a first set of five kaiju.

Chicha-kaiju
Is one of the most common kaiju, transformed from the abundant Sitsiryum, the Chichacorn. Its tentacles always itch, that i why they ceaselessly crawl into the murky recessess of Sitsiryum Island. They also like digging forest potholes that are obvious traps for their hapless victims. Their underdeveloped limbs make them unable to handle food too well.

Marzi-kaiju
is a rare breed of kaiju residing on the hilly portions of Sitsiryum island. It is a horrid transformation of the Marzipan Sitsiryum. Its spiky body mostly acts as a form of intimidation. It enjoys cutting things with its massive claws, especially trees, which it loves to eat.
